Hi, I'm Bernard Germain. I am an artist, teacher, illustrator, designer... and a California native living in New York City.

After graduating Art Center College of Design, I joined the faculty at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. For over five years I taught courses in portraiture and figure painting. Living in Southern California, I also worked as a muralist, art restorer and decorator. In the late 90s I packed up my studio, moved east and embarked upon a career in commercial art.

Since arriving in New York City I have worked as an illustrator, art director, graphic designer and software instructor.

For ten years, as a Lead Concept Artist, I specialized in the creation of instructional visuals, a role where I was responsible for start-to-finish project creation and management. It required proficiency in both illustration and graphic design under tight deadlines--a good fit for me.

My traditional drawing and painting skills proved invaluable at the front end of a project, while my proficiency in digital media (2D and 3D) were essential towards completion. For the last few years, I have devoted a lot of time to Web site creation and have expertise across HTML and CSS, along with a working knowledge of jquery/javascript.

And that brings me to present day. Of late, I've been creating a number of eLearning modules for my clients. I am proficient in Adobe Captivate and Articulate Studio 2009 (the standards in eLearning software). I'm currently seeking projects that allow me to employ my range of skills in part or in full... as I am equally comfortable at the drawing board, easel, Wacom tablet, computer keyboard, or mobile touchscreen.

While I've completed dozens of projects for large corporations and charitable organizations (see list below), I am not one to turn away a project of modest size or budget. Creating anything visual is what I love to do.
